As always Miller writes a very hot cowboy. Slade and Joslyn have a lot of cute and funny encounters before they got together. The romance was a bit slower to start than with other Miller novels. You can clearly see the chemistry between the two of them, but they never acted on it until the very end. Even with that being the case, the overall story definitely kept me engaged.
Shea, Slade’s stepdaughter, was always talking up a storm. This girl never stopped talking. Opal, Slade’s housekeeper, was another delightful surprise. She was like a mother to everyone she encountered.
This is the start to another great cowboy series to rival the McKettrick’s and the Creed’s. Slade and his half-brother Hutch make for some very interesting reading.
