Say Something ~ What's Your Song {36}

Say Something by A Great Big World

Say something, I'm giving up on you
I'll be the one, if you want me to
Anywhere I would've followed you
Say something, I'm giving up on you

And I am feeling so small
It was over my head
I know nothing at all

And I will stumble and fall
I'm still learning to love
Just starting to crawl

Say something, I'm giving up on you
I'm sorry that I couldn't get to you
Anywhere I would've followed you
Say something, I'm giving up on you

And I will swallow my pride
You're the one that I love
And I'm saying goodbye

Say something, I'm giving up on you
And I'm sorry that I couldn't get to you
And anywhere I would've followed you (Oh-oh-oh-oh)
Say something, I'm giving up on you

Say something, I'm giving up on you
Say something...

Review: Secrets of the Lost Summer by Carla Neggers

Secrets of the Lost Summer
Publish Date: January 31, 2012
Mass Market Paperback {p.344}
Genre: Contemporary
Series: Swift River Valley #1
Source: Personal Library
Olivia Frost, Dylan McCaffrey
A wave of hope carries Olivia Frost back to her small New England home town nestled in the beautiful Swift River Valley.

She's transforming a historic home into an idyllic getaway. Picturesque and perfect, if only the absentee owner will fix up the eyesore next door.

Dylan McCaffrey's ramshackle house is an inheritance he never counted on. It also holds the key to a generations-old lost treasure he can't resist; any more than he can resist his new neighbor. Against this breathtaking landscape, Dylan and Olivia pursue long-buried secrets and discover a mystery wrapped in a love story; past and present.

The storyline is interesting enough to keep you occupied with the book. Which is great because the romance between Olivia and Dylan was somewhat lacking. Both are likable characters on their own, the just weren't that interesting as a couple.

Olivia's family has its issues. Said issues were never really addressed, just kinda passed over. By the end of the book, I still felt like I was missing something when it came to Olivia's sister and mother.

The parts of the book that went back into the past to tell the story of Grace, Olivia's elderly friend, I somewhat skipped over. That part just never really held my interest. The best parts of the book were Olivia's interactions with her friend from Boston, Marilyn. I was always hoping for more scenes of those two, because that was the only real "action" of the story. I wanted Olivia to get a backbone and stand up to Marilyn, but it never happened. I just kept waiting, and waiting...

Drunk in Love ~ What's Your Song {35}

Drunk in Love by Beyonce

[Intro: Beyoncé]
I've been drinking, I've been drinking
I get filthy when that liquor get into me
I've been thinking, I've been thinking
Why can't I keep my fingers off it, baby?
I want you, na na
Why can't I keep my fingers off it, baby?
I want you, na na

[Verse 1: Beyoncé]
Cigars on ice, cigars on ice
Feeling like an animal with these cameras all in my grill
Flashing lights, flashing lights
You got me faded, faded, faded
Baby, I want you, na na
Can't keep your eyes off my fatty
Daddy, I want you, na na
Drunk in love, I want you

[Hook: Beyoncé]
We woke up in the kitchen saying,
"How the hell did this shit happen?"
Oh baby, drunk in love we be all night
Last thing I remember is our beautiful bodies grinding up in the club
Drunk in love

[Bridge: Beyoncé]
We be all night, love, love
We be all night, love, love

[Verse 2: Beyoncé]
We be all night,
And everything alright
No complaints from my body, so fluorescent under these lights
Boy, I'm drinking,
Park it in my lot 7-11
I'm rubbing on it, rub-rubbing, if you scared, call that reverend
Boy, I'm drinking, get my brain right
Armand de brignac, gangster wife
Louie sheets, he sweat it out like wash rags he wear it out
[Studio version:] Boy, I'm drinking, I'm singing on the mic to my boy toys
[Video/Live version:] Boy, I'm drinking, I'm singing on the mic til my voice hoarse
Then I fill the tub up halfway then ride it with my surfboard, surfboard, surfboard
Graining on that wood, graining, graining on that wood
I'm swerving on that, swerving, swerving on that big body
Been serving all this, swerve, surfing all in this good, good

[Hook]
We woke up in the kitchen saying,
"How the hell did this shit happen?"
Oh baby, drunk in love we be all night
Last thing I remember is our beautiful bodies grinding up in the club
Drunk in love

[Bridge]
We be all night, love, love
We be all night, love, love

[Verse 3: Jay-Z]
(I'm nice right now)
Hold up
That D'USSÉ is the shit if I do say so myself
If I do say so myself, if I do say so myself
Hold up,
Stumbled all in the house time to back up all of that mouth
That you had all in the car, talking 'bout you the baddest bitch thus far
Talking 'bout you be repping that third, I wanna see all the shit that I heard
Know I sling Clint Eastwood, hope you can handle this curve
Foreplay in the foyer, fucked up my Warhol
Slip the panties right to the side
Ain't got the time to take draws off, on site
Catch a charge I might, beat the box up like Mike
In '97 I bite, I'm Ike, Turner, turn up
Baby no I don't play, now eat the cake, Anna Mae
Said, "Eat the cake, Anna Mae!"
I'm nice, for y'all to reach these heights you gonna need G3
4, 5, 6 flights, sleep tight
We sex again in the morning, your breastases is my breakfast
We going in, we be all night

[Bridge]
We be all night, love, love
We be all night, love, love

[Verse 4: Beyoncé]
Never tired, never tired
I been sipping, that's the only thing that's keeping me on fire, me on fire
Didn't mean to spill that liquor all on my attire
I've been drinking watermelon
I want your body right here, daddy I want you, right now
Can't keep your eyes off my fatty
Daddy I want you

[Bridge]
We be all night, love, love
We be all night, love, love

Review: Faithful by Kelly Elliott

Faithful (Wanted, #3)

Publish Date: August 13, 2013
Audio Book {12 hrs 44 mins}
Genre: New Adult
Series: Wanted #3
Source: Public Library
Heather Lambert, Joshua Hayes

After Heather Lambert’s parents died in a tragic car accident her senior year of high school, she refuses to let anyone into her heart for fear of being hurt again. Focusing only on school to follow her dreams of becoming an elementary school teacher, the last thing Heather intends to do is fall in love with Josh Hayes.

Josh knows the moment he lays eyes on Heather that she is the one he’s been waiting for. During months of obstacles and denied feelings, he is rejected by her time and time again. When he finally wins her love, Josh and Heather start planning their future together…until Heather receives one bit of news she never wanted to hear again.

There has been a car accident.

Josh wakes up with no memory of Heather, and his ex-girlfriend, Victoria, is his nurse. Heather must decide if she’ll risk being hurt again and fight for the one man she loves with all her heart.

Will Josh remember Heather when she needs him the most? Or will Victoria take advantage of this opportunity, pushing Heather away from Josh for good?
AMAZING!! I just wish I had know this was book #3 in a series before I read it! :(

These Texas boys sure love to say "Motherf***er." Being from Texas, I have to admit, I know quite a few guys (and some girls too) who love to throw that word around. I loved everyone in this story; I even loved to hate Victoria. I even loved all the music. If you are a music lover, then this book is a wet dream for you. The playlist is to die for!

Josh at times I wanted to hit upside his head. How could he be that dense when it came to girls hitting on him? The thing that stuck out, or shocked me most about this book was that the female characters aren't even 21 yet. WTF? Married with multiple kids and not even of legal drinking age?!? This can't be Austin, TX but Boondocks, TX.

The dynamic between all the couples was great. It felt more like that of family than that of friends. I was totally drawn into the story of Jessica and Scott. To me, their story along with that of Brad and Amanda, stole the show. The whole gang seemed to a loyal, loving group and I can hardly wait to see where they all go from here. But first, I need to go back and read the first two installments.

Read by Arika Rapson and Nelson Hobbs
Duration: 12 hours 44 minutes

Narration: B

The accents took a bit getting used to. Upon first starting this audio book I didn't think I was going to make it through it because of the narrators Texas twang. I found that I kept questioning if I sound like that when I speak. But once I got used to it, it sounded like any other narrator.

List of Five ~ February 2014

I got the idea of making a list of the books I'm going to read for the month from a similar feature done by GalleySmith. Although she lists 10 books I'm only doing 5, to take into account ARCs I may receive or just falling into a reading slump.

Hopefully this will also cut down on the time I spend sitting in front of my bookshelf trying to decide what to read next. Plus maybe it will help with my need to read my own books. I have this problem of putting books on the shelves in favor of reading newer, shinier books and forgetting all about the previously purchased ones.

My goal is to stick to this 5 with the addition of others throughout the month. I may not read them in the order they are listed, but it is my goal to read all five.

February 2014 List of Five:
  • Saved
  • Dash of Peril
  • Dark Wolf
  • Four Friends
  • Shadow Woman

Review: Come Home to Me by Brenda Novak

Come Home to Me (Whiskey Creek, #6)
Publish Date: March 25, 2014
Kindle {p.416}
Genre: Romance
Series: Whiskey Creek #6
Source: NetGalley
Presley Christensen, Aaron Amos
Home is where her heart is...

When Presley Christensen returns to Whiskey Creek with her little boy after two years away, she has completely changed her life. She's made peace with her past and overcome the negative behavior that resulted from her difficult childhood. Now she's back in the small town that was the closest thing to home she ever knew the town where she can be with the sister who's her only family.

There's just one catch. Aaron Amos still lives in Whiskey Creek, at least until he moves to Placerville to open a branch of the Amos brothers' auto body shop. And no matter how hard she's tried, Presley hasn't been able to get over him. Seeing him again makes the longing so much worse. But she hopes she can get through the next few months, because she can't fall back into his arms or his bed. She's come too far to backslide now. And there's a secret she's been guarding a secret she'll do anything to protect.

I lost all respect for Cheyenne in this installment of the series. Which is sad, because her book was my favorite of the series. The plotting she was doing behind her husband's back was unacceptable. Sure, she thought it was for a good cause, but it was not the way to handle it. It was downright deceptive and manipulative. What she was doing was grounds for a divorce in my opinion because how can you stay married to someone who's that conniving and you can't trust? I just couldn't bring myself to get past all the lying to truly enjoy this book.

Presley and Aaron never seemed able to get it together. Of course at the very end, Aaron finally has it all figured out. There was no chemistry with Presley and Riley, but she and Aaron just seemed to incompatible outside of the bedroom. I still feel that the core group of friends are so hard up to find that special someone that they latch onto anyone. Riley never cared or noticed Presley before, when she needed someone the most, but now all of a sudden he's truly serious and in love with her? Doubtful.

In the end, I just never really felt any love connection between Presley and Aaron. He was just jealous all the time whenever she was with Riley, but jealousy doesn't equal love.
