Divorce attorney Harper James can't catch a break. Bad enough that she runs into her ex-hubby, Nick, at her sister's destination wedding, but now, by a cruel twist of fate, she's being forced to make a cross-country road trip with him. And her almost-fiancé back at home is not likely to be sympathetic. Harper can't help that Nick has come blazing back into her life in all of his frustratingly appealing, gorgeous architect glory. But in Nick's eyes, Harper's always been the one. If they can only get it right this time, forever might be waiting -- just around the bend.

Holy testicle Tuesday! This book was amazing!

Harper and Nick married young and were divorced six months later. Twelve years later, they have been thrown together for the upcoming nuptials of their respective siblings to each other. Old long forgotten and not so forgotten feelings begin to resurface.

We meet Harper and Nick and get to know them as individuals before we ever get to find out what went bad with their marriage. With this being the case, I built up my own thoughts as to who was at fault for the marriage failing. Once I was introduced to both characters, without knowing the back-story, I found Harper to be at fault. Upon getting a little of their story, I blamed Nick, but then went back to Harper. So as you can see, there was never a clear-cut person at fault with me.

What Higgins has managed to do is, no matter which of them you want to blame, you can’t be upset with either of them. Sure I wanted to blame Harper, because Nick was just so sweet and lovable, but I couldn’t be angry with her because she was such a likeable, girl next door character.

All the characters played integral pieces to the overall story. Denny, Harper’s almost fiancé, is a perfect example of how the side characters played major roles to the overall story. Denny was the perfect compromise for Harper. He was someone who could give her the husband and kids she always wanted while she remained firmly in the driver’s seat. Sure she loved Denny, but she was not in love with him. This ensured that she didn’t have to worry about getting hurt. Or him abandoning her.

It was obvious that Nick and Harper loved each other, but I just wasn’t sure how they were going to make it work. The two of them had such chemistry together. Their journey back to each other was a heartwarming, emotional ride, and I loved every minute of it.
