Giveaway & Review: Goodnight Tweetheart by Teresa Medeiros

Goodnight Tweetheart
Teresa Medeiros {Facebook | Twitter}
Publisher: Gallery
Publication Date: December 8, 2010
Trade Paperback {p.222}
Source: Publisher
Genre: Contemporary
Characters: Abigail Donovan, Mark Baynard
Challenge: 100+
My Rating:

Abigail Donovan has a lot of stuff she should be doing. Namely writing her next novel. A bestselling author who is still recovering from a near Pulitzer Prize win and the heady success that follows Oprah’s stamp of approval, she is stuck at Chapter Five and losing confidence daily. But when her publicist signs her up for a Twitter account, she’s intrigued. What’s all the fuss?

Taken under the wing of one of her Twitter followers, “MarkBaynard"—a quick witted, quick-typing professor on sabbatical—Abby finds it easy to put words out into the world 140 characters at a time. And once she gets a handle on tweets, retweets, direct messages, hashtags, and trends, she starts to feel unblocked in writing and in life. After all, why should she be spending hours in her apartment staring at her TweetDeck and fretting about her stalled career when Mark is out there traveling the world and living?

Or is he?

Told almost entirely in tweets and DMs, Goodnight Tweetheart is a truly modern take on a classic tale of love and loss—a Griffin and Sabine for the Twitter generation.
Abby Donovan is an author who has written one great American novel, and has been struggling to write number two ever since. After a day of public humiliation at a local bookstore, her publicist signs her up for a twitter account that changes her life.

Twitter is where she meets the charming Mark Baynard. The two of them engage in a quick-witted repartee from their first tweet.

I loved the banter between these two characters. They will definitely keep you laughing, when you're not crying, along their journey of falling for each other over their TweetDecks.

Both Abigail and Mark are very appealing, likable characters. Both seemed to have this somewhat dorky personality, with their vast knowledge of pop culture, that made them a perfect match. Their connection actually felt real, which is an amazing thing to accomplish in 140 characters or less. I think I fell in love reading it.

The ending was great, although I didn't want it to end. I wanted more of their story and back-handed comments. I wanted to see what became of these two twitter soulmates.

Goodnight Tweetheart is a DEFINITE must read to add to your tbr pile!

If i happened to hit it off with someone on Twitter, that's one thing, but I wouldn't intentionally use it as a dating tool.

I probably wouldn't be looking for love on Twitter. I am more old fashioned.

I never would have thought of Twitter as a way to meet someone but it sounds like a great story.

I wouldn't set out to use Twitter as a dating tool, but if love is found through innocent tweeting, then that's great!

I am not sure that my first response posted!

Not sure that I fall in love through Twitter but I would definitely have to be single again!

Ooh...good question. Well, seeing as though I'm actually a fairly shy person when I first meet someone, I wouldn't exactly say no. I mean it would break down that wall of embarrassing yourself face to face at least initially, right? *-*

(Thanks for the chance!)

I found my one true love through match.com so would probabaly consider any way to try to find "the one" if I were searching.
I think I would have to find them through a place where we knew we could find someone with common interests, then perhaps after that would consider using twitter to devel deeper into their thoughts and to keep in touch rather taht just emails.

First, this is a great review! Although I have seen this title around, I never thought it might be "my kind of read" until I read this, so thanks for adding yet ANOTHER title to my groaning wishlist!

I would not consider Twitter for romance, but my props to those who are brave enough to go for it!

hmm, probably not finding love but maybe a potential date. i think meeting face to face is important before you can say you are in love.

I am not sure if I would use twitter to find love but maybe just a friend.

Thanks for the giveaway! :)

No, I won't use twitter to find love... I rather find love in real life settings than online :( It's too risky. But I don't mind reading that kind of scenario in a fiction book :)

Great giveaway!

I wouldn't use Twitter or any other online site to find love. There's to many crazy people out there.

I have been dying to read this book!

I would not use Twitter as a way a way to find love because I have already found my soulmate. :) However, if that wasn't the case, I probably still wouldn't because I would find it difficult to open up without being face to face.

Thanks for the chance to win such a fun book!
