Review: The Accidental Werewolf by Dakota Cassidy

Title: The Accidental Werewolf
Author: Dakota Cassidy
Published: February 5, 2008
Publisher: Berkley Trade
Source: Personal Library
Format: Kindle
Genre: Paranormal
Series: Accidental Friends #1
Characters: Marty Andrews, Keegan Flaherty
My Rating:

Heat Level: 2/5
Synopsis:
When Marty Andrews gets bitten by a mangy mutt while walking her teacup poodle, her blond hair darkens, the hair on her legs starts growing at an alarming rate, and her mood swings put her dream job as a sales rep for Bobbie-Sue Cosmetics in serious jeopardy.

Then a drool-worthy man shows up at her door claiming that he accidentally bit Marty. And since he's a werewolf, she is now, too. Thinking Keegan Flaherty is clearly insane, Marty refuses to believe a word until a kidnapping makes her realize there's more at stake than just her highlights. And she must put her out-of-control life in the hands of the man who makes her blood run wild in more ways than one...

Well, it was official.

This was a laugh a minute! I laughed from the beginning of this book until the end. Marty's two Bobbie Sue trainees, Nina and Wanda, definitely added major laughs to the overall story. The story progresses pretty quickly.

It starts out with with Marty being accidentally bitten by Keegan while he's in his wolf form. Keegan was lurking in an ally and couldn't resist her smell, thus causing him to get caught, and the bite taking place. This all happens within the first couple of pages, so there is no big work up to getting to the point of the story. It immediately takes off from chapter one with no lags.

Marty was an okay lead, but I think Nina stole the show. At times Marty seemed rather ditsy and shallow, not at all the type to be paired with an alpha male of a wolf pack. Keegan was great in the fact that he was putting up with her. Near the end, she did manage to pull it together a little. This was a lite fluff read without any kind of depth. It's very funny, but you won't form any connection with Marty and Keegan.
